First big contract FA signing for the M's

So after all the fuss and drama, it's now official. Richie Sexson signs! I've heard much about the cons of this signing, and it's a lot of money committed to a player with big risks and good but not great returns, but since it's already happened, I might as well take it one step at a time. At least it wasn't a Renteria signing. At least it's a start for the club which never had any significant FA signings for years. If he stays healthy Sexson should be a reasonable contributor. Now hopefully this doesn't have to be a negative thing should we land Beltre to man the other corner. Just please, no Carlos Delgado now! For left-handed power, try trading Winn and signing J.D. Drew instead. Drew, though a Boras client, is much younger and will definitely not command as much as Delgado who also clashes position with Sexson.

In addition to being local (Brush Prairie, WA, which is just about 15 minutes from where I am), Sexson will reunite with new M's manager Mike Hargrove. As for the new manager bringing in his own guy, Sexson is obviously much better than McCracken and Cobrunn. (On a somewhat related note, the AP should proof-read their articles better... than to confuse the M's with the Seahawks!)
